The Diocese of Tyler, under the direction of Bishop Joseph Strickland, is a teaching diocese, aimed at enriching the faith of all those within and outside of it. In Bishop Strickland's Constitution on Teaching the Catholic Faith, he founded the St. Philip Institute and charged it providing the parishes of the Diocese with the materials, expertise, and support to perform the mission of teaching as outlined in this Constitution.
